RanchAssist™ Hay Needs Calculator — Terms of Service
Effective date: August 28, 2026
These Terms of Service govern use of the RanchAssist Hay Needs Calculator. By accessing or using the calculator, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the calculator.
1. The Service
The RanchAssist Hay Needs Calculator is a standalone agricultural planning utility that helps users estimate feeding-period hay requirements, loss-adjusted hay quantity, bale count, reserve, inventory shortage or surplus, projected purchase cost, cost per head per day, and inventory depletion timing from user-entered assumptions.
The calculator may also support local RanchAssist .ra project files, CSV export, print/PDF workflows, Copy Summary, and, when deployed through Google Apps Script, user-initiated Email Share.
2. Planning Tool; No Professional Advice
The calculator provides planning estimates only. It does not provide or replace veterinary advice, animal-nutrition advice, forage laboratory analysis, agronomic advice, financial advice, legal advice, or any professional certification.
Actual animal intake, hay quality, dry matter, bale weight, storage loss, feeding waste, weather, feeding conditions, inventory, costs, and operational results can differ materially from the values entered or calculated.
You are responsible for selecting appropriate assumptions and for obtaining qualified professional or local guidance when a decision requires it.
3. User Inputs and Assumptions
The calculator relies on information you enter, including livestock counts, weights, dry-matter intake percentages, feeding periods, reserve settings, bale characteristics, dry matter, loss assumptions, inventory, ration shares, and prices.
You are responsible for the accuracy, suitability, and completeness of those inputs. Example or default values in the interface are editable planning examples and are not represented as universal recommendations.
4. Calculation Method and Rounding
The calculator may derive daily herd dry-matter demand, convert that demand to loss-adjusted as-fed hay, and convert pounds of hay into bale quantities based on the inputs supplied.
Whole-bale planning quantities may be rounded upward. Derived results may be recalculated when a saved project is reopened under current application logic. Changes to calculation logic, validation, or rounding in future versions may cause results to differ from earlier outputs.
5. No Guarantee of Results
RanchAssist does not guarantee that calculated hay quantities, reserve, depletion dates, shortages, surpluses, costs, or other outputs will match actual future conditions.
You assume responsibility for decisions made using the calculator and for verifying important results before acting on them.
6. Session-First Project Model
The calculator is designed without requiring a user account for core calculations. The active project may use browser sessionStorage for active-session resilience. sessionStorage is not permanent saving.
RanchAssist does not promise permanent cloud storage of the active project. If you want to continue later, use Save Project to create a local .ra RanchAssist Project File and store that file somewhere you control.
7. RanchAssist Project Files (.ra)
A .ra file is a user-controlled project file intended to preserve the editable state of a compatible RanchAssist project.
You are responsible for keeping copies of project files you want to retain. Browser downloads, device storage, file systems, third-party drives, and backups are outside the calculator's control.
The calculator may reject project files that are invalid, damaged, created by a different RanchAssist tool, incomplete, or created in an unsupported newer format. The calculator is not required to guess at incompatible or corrupted data.
Do not place executable code, private API keys, passwords, authentication tokens, or malicious content into a RanchAssist project file.
8. Exports
CSV, print/PDF, copied summaries, and other outputs are provided for convenience. You are responsible for reviewing exported information before relying on, distributing, or incorporating it into other records or systems.
Exported files may contain project information you entered. Once you save, upload, print, copy, email, or otherwise share an export, its handling is governed by the systems and people to which you provide it.
9. Email Share
When available, Email Share is a user-initiated feature. You are responsible for entering the correct recipient and for ensuring that you are authorized to send the information included in the summary.
RanchAssist does not guarantee email delivery, inbox placement, delivery time, or continued availability of the email feature. Static-hosted versions of the calculator may not include server-side email delivery.
10. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
• Use the calculator unlawfully;
• Attempt to disrupt, damage, overload, or interfere with the service;
• Introduce malicious code into project files or inputs;
• Attempt to use imported files to execute scripts or access credentials;
• Misrepresent calculator outputs as professional certification or guaranteed results;
• Attempt to obtain server-side credentials, authentication secrets, or configuration not intended for the browser; or
• Use the service in a manner that violates the rights of others.
11. Intellectual Property
The RanchAssist name, product design, software, interface, documentation, and related materials may be protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of RanchAssist intellectual property to you.
You retain responsibility for and any rights you may have in project information that you enter, subject to any rights necessary for the software and systems you choose to use to process actions you explicitly request, such as generating an export or sending an email summary.
12. Availability and Changes
The calculator may be changed, updated, suspended, migrated, or discontinued. Features, formulas, validation, file formats, exports, hosting, and sharing capabilities may change over time.
RanchAssist may update project-file schemas and attempt compatible migration where practical, but perpetual compatibility with every prior or future version is not guaranteed.
13. Third-Party Services
The calculator may depend on browser capabilities, Google Apps Script, email infrastructure, device file systems, hosting providers, or other third-party platforms. Those services are outside RanchAssist's direct control and may be subject to separate terms, limits, outages, quotas, or policies.
14. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the calculator is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, or that results will meet your operational needs.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers, so portions of this section may not apply to you.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RanchAssist and the operator of the service will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost livestock value, feed shortages, excess purchases, operational interruption, or other losses arising from or related to use of or inability to use the calculator.
To the extent liability cannot be excluded, it will be limited as permitted by applicable law.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so portions of this section may not apply to you.
16. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, or expenses arising from your unlawful use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your misuse or misrepresentation of calculator outputs.
17. Privacy
Use of the calculator is also subject to the applicable RanchAssist Hay Needs Calculator Privacy Policy, which explains the session-first project model, .ra project files, exports, Email Share, and support-related information handling.
18. Governing Law and Venue
No governing-law jurisdiction or exclusive venue is specified in the supplied Hay Needs Calculator product materials. The site operator should add an appropriate governing-law and venue provision before relying on these Terms as final legal terms for a public production service.
19. Severability
If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect to the extent permitted by law.
20. No Waiver
Failure to enforce a provision of these Terms does not waive the right to enforce it later.
21. Changes to the Terms
These Terms may be updated as the calculator, law, or operating model changes. The effective date should be revised when updates are published. Continued use after updated Terms become effective may constitute acceptance where permitted by law.
22. Contact
For questions about these Terms, use the RanchAssist Contact & Help channel provided on the website.
IMPORTANT IMPLEMENTATION NOTE FOR THE SITE OPERATOR
