Everything you need to know about Fence Cost Estimator by RanchAssist™
What is Fence Cost Estimator by RanchAssist™?
Fence Cost Estimator by RanchAssist™ is a map-based planning and estimating tool for ranch and rural fence projects.
It helps you map a proposed fence route, calculate fence length, configure the fence system, estimate materials, enter your own costs, and generate an itemized project estimate and bill of materials.
The tool is intended to help answer a practical question before construction begins:
What might this fence require, and what might it cost?
Who is Fence Cost Estimator designed for?
The estimator is designed for people planning rural and agricultural fence projects, including ranchers, cattle producers, landowners, property managers, fence contractors, agricultural consultants, and farm or ranch employees.
It can be used for anything from an internal cross-fence to a larger perimeter or infrastructure project.
Do I need a RanchAssist account?
No.
Fence Cost Estimator is designed as a standalone RanchAssist™ utility and does not require a RanchAssist account for normal use.
You can create an estimate, save the editable project locally as a RanchAssist .ra file, and export or share the results without creating an account.
Is Fence Cost Estimator free to use?
Pricing and access terms should be based on what is currently displayed on the live Fence Cost Estimator website.
The product itself is designed so that users do not need to configure or purchase their own Mapbox account simply to use the map.
Mapping & Measurements
How does the map-based estimator work?
You begin by locating the property on the map and drawing one or more proposed fence runs over the property.
The application uses that geometry to determine the planned fence distance.
That measured distance becomes the starting point for calculations involving wire, posts, braces, gates, labor, and other project costs.
Can I use satellite imagery?
Yes.
The application can use Mapbox-powered mapping and satellite imagery so proposed fence lines can be drawn in the context of the actual property.
Availability depends on the map service being correctly configured by the RanchAssist deployment administrator.
Do I need to enter a Mapbox token?
No.
You should never be asked to provide a Mapbox access token or developer API credential.
Map configuration is handled by the RanchAssist deployment administrator.
If the map service is unavailable because the deployment is not configured correctly, the application should display a service-availability message rather than asking you to enter a token.
